    CultureFest at Carrboro High School: Strengthening Family and Community Engagement

    CultureFest, a favorite tradition at Carrboro High School, is a community celebration, hosted by the school’s Academy of International Studies, the Newcomers program and the PTSA and held in the late fall. November 17 marked the first in-person CultureFest in three years, and the food, entertainment and camaraderie were well worth waiting for!

    Instructional Excellence and Joy: An Author’s Visit

    Author visits were once a common school or grade level enrichment in this book-focused community, but they mostly fell by the wayside during the pandemic. Slowly they’re making their way back onto calendars, especially at the elementary level. As one example, third grade students at Seawell Elementary School recently listened to nationally renowned author Stacy McAnulty.

    On October 26, the 39 Equity and Empathy Ambassadors from all four CHCCS high schools gathered to spend most of the day together, discussing the Strategic Plan 2027, grading policies and homework experiences from their respective schools.
