Summer COVID-19 Testing: Students attending summer programs and sports practices as well as district staff working in-person this summer are encouraged to register for free weekly COVID-19 testing. Summer COVID-19 testing will take place on Wednesdays and Thursdays. To register for summer in-school testing, begin by selecting the school your student will attend in the fall. The actual COVID test will take place at the location of the summer program.

School-Based COVID-19 Testing Program

Our district is participating in North Carolina’s free COVID-19 testing program for students and staff at school. It’s one of the many things we are doing to help keep students in the classroom. Testing requires consent from a parent or legal guardian. To learn more about the program and how to opt in, register below or contact your school office.

The testing program is currently offered to students in grades K-12 and CHCCS staff. There is no school-based COVID-19 testing available for Pre-Kindergarten students at this time. This weekly program helps identify and isolate cases to prevent the virus from spreading in our schools and community.

Weekly screening of students and staff who are asymptomatic (without symptoms) takes place during the school day. If students or staff have symptoms and need a diagnostic test, see the link below for Community COVID-19 Testing Locations outside of school, or consult your doctor.

About CHCCS COVID-19 Testing: Our school-based testing program is coordinated by MAKO Medical, a Raleigh laboratory, in partnership with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. This state program is funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. For more information about testing in North Carolina schools, click on these links:
