This isn’t my first post about valuing each other and it probably won’t be my last. I believe it’s one of the most important things we can do with those around us.
It sounds easy, I know. If I were to ask anyone, they would say they treat others with respect. What can be more difficult is treating someone you disagree with respectfully. Which is why it’s more important.
Having an opposing view doesn’t mean we shouldn’t value another person. In fact, it’s probably the best reason to treat them respectfully. After all, how can you have an open conversation - or any conversation - if you’re not willing to do so in a respectful manner? It’s like the Golden Rule: Treat others as you want to be treated.
You can start by just listening. It is the simplest way to show respect.
So again, I’ll say, please value each other. Please make sure you treat everyone with respect. This is something we start teaching our youngest learners and continue throughout their years in CHCCS. It’s not easy to do, but it is a simple request.
