Weekly Message - 1/29/23

Hello families! This is Stacie Boyer, principal of Ephesus with a few updates for the week of January 29th:

  • Nurse Liz’s Notes: click the link for more information!
  • Family Ball 2023: Check out your invitation to our annual Family Ball on Friday, February 24th attached to this email. Translations are included!
  • Next Teacher Workday: Please note that our next teacher workday is Monday, February 13th and there is no school for students.
  • Black History Month: Starting this week, Ephesus will begin our Black History Month celebration! Our school will be studying The History of Dance, as well as the many contributions of talented Black musicians, choreographers, and dancers.
    • We want YOU involved! If you haven't noticed already, many of our roadrunners have been featured on the weekly news showing their love of dance and many talented moves. We'd love to have your family on the news! Do you have favorite dances? Traditions around dance in your family? Just like to bust a move? If so, please email your video to Mrs. Etheridge (retheridge@chccs.k12.nc.us) and pay attention for your debut!
  • NC Check-Ins: Students in grades 3 through 5 will begin their quarterly assessments in reading and math. 5th graders will also take science. Please let your child’s teacher know if you have any questions.
  • PTA Meeting 2/2: The PTA wants you to join us for our February meeting this Thursday evening from 7:30 - 8:15 pm on Google Meet! You can access the meeting on your computer using the link or via telephone at: ‪‪(US) +1 385-404-5230‬ PIN: ‪946 529 273‬# We have a lot of ongoing programs and ideas to share including the Family Ball, equity survey follow-up, and a new spring event for Ephesus families!
  • Visitors/Volunteers Update: Interested in being a volunteer in our school? You can complete a background check using the link on the CHCCS website and help out!
    • Please remember that ALL VISITORS must check in at the front desk at all times when entering our building. While we do allow parents in classrooms for special events (such as mystery readers, volunteers for an activity or event, etc), you must have a yellow visitor badge that lets all staff know you are supposed to be in the building and allowed to be down the hallways during the school day. Thanks for helping us keep all students safe and following procedures!

Stacie Boyer, Principal
