Drivers Education
Hello Carrboro High School students and families!
My name is Lillian Martinez, Administrative Assistant to our principal Dr.Helena Thomas. Another role I play at Carrboro High School is that I'm our school's NEW Drivers Education Coordinator!
With the new school year starting soon, I wanted to share with you a bit of information about Drivers Ed.

Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools offers driver education classes to high school students through a private contractor, Jordan Driving School of the Carolinas (JDSC). Driver Education is considered an after-school activity at the end of the school day. At this time classes are available via online only. Students must be 14.5 by the first day of registered class.
Once the student completes the classroom portion (30 hours), they are required to complete 6-hours of Behind the Wheel (BTW) driving. At the completion of Drivers Education your instructor will award you with your Drivers Education Completion certificate.
At that point in time, you or your parent/guardian will reach out to me to schedule an appointment to receive your official Drivers Eligibility form. Eligibility forms will ONLY be given by appointment. Appointments are available Monday - Thursday between the hours of 10:00am - 2:00pm.
A few things I will be looking out for before you are handed your Drivers Eligibility form.
* Student must maintain academic grades - 5 out of 7 classes must be passing.
The day of your appointment:
* Did you bring your parent/guardian . A parent/guardian MUST be present in order to sign students Drivers Eligibility Form.
* Did you bring your Drivers Ed Completion Certificate. I will need to make a copy to keep for our records.
