CHCCS Welcomes Lisa Kaylie to the Board of Education

Brings vast experience supporting children and schools

At Thursday night’s meeting, the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Board of Education selected Lisa Kaylie to fill the remainder of the term that became vacant when Dr. Amy Fowler was elected to the Board of County Commissioners.

Kaylie is a resident of Chapel Hill. She has a degree in International Relations from Tufts University, and an MBA from UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School. Her two children are currently students in the district. Kaylie has served as CHCCS PTA Council President, CHCCS Special Needs Advisory Council President, and is president of Frucon International, an e-commerce services company. She also has served on the boards of several local nonprofit organizations, including Extraordinary Ventures, the Orange/Chatham Chapter of the Autism Society of NC, Kidzu Children’s Museum, and the N.C. Therapeutic Riding Center.

"We want to thank all of the candidates who applied to fill our vacant position. We were truly impressed by the quality of the field," said Board Chair Dr. Jillian La Serna. "We welcome Lisa to the team, and we look forward to serving with her over the next ten months."

Kaylie’s term expires in December. She will be sworn in at the Board of Education's March 4 meeting.
