Tim Bennett of Chapel Hill High Named NC Athletic Director of the Year
In a school district that is known throughout the state for its athletic achievements, the athletic director at Chapel Hill High School (CHHS), Tim Bennett, has added another top prize by being named North Carolina Athletic Director of the Year. He received the award at the NC Athletic Directors State Conference on March 31 for his contributions to Interscholastic Athletics in the state.
Bennett has served as athletic director at CHHS since 2013, and he inherited a longstanding tradition of excellence in many sports, including the high-achieving performance of the men’s and women’s soccer programs.
CHCCS Director of School Safety and Athletics, Scarlett Steinert, said, “Tim is one of the most organized and compassionate athletic directors you’ll find anywhere. He cares about kids and coaches, and he will always make decisions in the best interests of student athletes.”
Bennett’s resume was built on his prior experience coaching football. He was the head football coach and athletic director at Roanoke Rapids High School for 18 years, and he also coached at the college level. In the five years since he joined the staff at CHHS, the school has won 13 state championships and 50 Big-8 Conference Championships.
CHHS Principal, Charles Blanchard, said, “Coach Bennett provides excellent leadership for our student-athletes and coaches! He spends countless hours making sure everything is ready for practices and events. Under his leadership our teams have shown great success both in the classroom and on the playing field. Our school community his blessed to have Tim Bennett!”
