New Health Requirements in 2019-20 for Students in Kindergarten, 7th Grade and 12th Grade

New Health Requirements for 2019- 20 School Year

Parents, please note that your student will need a complete record of required immunizations to attend school. If your student is new to NC Public Schools they will also need a completed Health Assessment If you need help finding health services, List of Health Care Providers.

Immunizations are a person's first line of protection from vaccine preventable diseases like measles and pertussis.

CHCCS encourages families to take advantage of the summer days to get their children a yearly physical with their primary care provider in order to review the required immunizations for school.

Students need immunizations when entering Kindergarten, and a Tdap and Meningitis immunization for 7th Graders. Beginning the year 2020, students entering the 12th grade or by 17 years of age, whichever comes first, will need another Meningitis booster dose. Note: The booster dose does not apply to individuals who entered the 12th grade before August 1, 2020. Source: NCDHHS

For questions, parents should contact their primary care provider or the local health department as both knows exactly what is needed to get students immunized before school starts on August 27.

Please note: For students who start on the first day of school, 2019, the 30th day is  September 25th, please ensure all records are submitted to avoid your student being excluded on September 26th.
