Library Updates
-
For everyone's safety, library lunch is going to look a little different. You'll fill out this form if you want to come the following week. I'll shuffle responses and assign you a day (or days) they can come to the library for lunch.
Please note - this form will go dark after Advisory. In the event that I can't close it down in time, I'll go by the timestamps on the responses.
I will do my absolute best to get friends in here together. :) Because this is a new system, please be patient as I work out the issues.

It's summer break, but this librarian (and most other CHCCS librarians) will continue to plot and plan for an exciting 2020-2021 school year. If you have any questions about books or programming, feel free to email me at ggrana@chccs.k12.nc.us

Student Club form
The student club form will be open again for a limited time, due to some renewed interest.
Click here to access the club form.
Please remember that any club you apply for should "fit" in the library. For instance, you can't form a social club, or a club that plays computer games.

LitCon Bookmark Voting
It's time to vote for your favorite bookmark designs! Students submitted beautiful, carefully-crafted, created bookmark designs and now it's time for you to vote on your favorites.
Choose your top 3 favorite designs - the winners will have copies made for school-wide distribution. The originals will remain on display as works of art in the library.
You must be signed in to your school Google account to vote.

The school year hasn't even started yet but we've already got an author visit planned! Huge shout out to Flyleaf Books for sharing the opportunity.
Victoria Schwab will be here on September 5th at 9:30 am to promote her new book, Tunnel of Bones, the sequel to the stellar, spooktacular, New Yor Times Bestseller City of Ghosts. (It was also one of Mr. Graña's favorite summer reads).
If you want to seize this opportunity to hear from and meet a major author, make sure you ask your Language Arts teacher how you can participate. The link below is the flyer for the event, which doubles as the order form for the books (available at a discount).

Reading Challenge
I've typically shied away from reading challenges because they feel a little constraining, but something about Book Riot's Read Harder Challenge has me hyped! I've printed a copy of the reading list and posted it to my door. If you're interested, click here to download an editable copy for yourself. The Read Harder Challenge page (linked above) is being updated regularly with book lists to give you an idea of what to read, or you can chat with your friendly neighborhood librarian about some options. :) -

Student Clubs
We are once again opening up the opportunity for students to form clubs. Click here to fill out the form to request confirmation of your club.
Please note - we reserve the right to deny the formation of a club or suspend the club for violation of library rules and regulations. Additionally, it is possible that we will need to close the library to club use for a number of reasons including, but not limited to:
- Use of the library for another class
- Library reset days
- Programming
- Library-assistants only days
-
The snow days have come and gone, but the cold still calls you to find a good book to pair with your snuggly blanket at home. Why not find a good one and support the library at the same time!
The PTSA is hosting the Bedford Falls Book Fair in the library from Thursday, Dec. 13 through Wednesday, Dec. 19 (no weekend hours, sorry).
Cash and credit cards are accepted.
-
Harry Potter Week has been delayed due to the snow days!
Help us prepare for Harry Potter Week by donating the following items! Please check back early next week for additional items. We'll be updating this list to include items for potions...
Donation list will be updated with a sign-up genius. Check back soon. :)

Collaboration with Public Libraries
Recently, CHCCS announced our collaboration with Chapel Hill Public Library (CHPL) and Orange County Public Library (OCPL), and I couldn't be happier!
We'll have access to thousands of books, audiobooks, and other resources to make our learning experiences even richer. Some of the resources I'm most excited about include:
- NCLIVE: This is a database that contains many resources to help expand those already available via NCWise Owl.
- Audiobooks: Through the NC Digital Library, we'll be able to check out electronic audiobooks. You can listen online or through a simple app!
- Novelist: a resource that enables you to find new books and read-alikes.
- Tutor.com and Brainfuse: Get help with homework online!
