Governor's School and Advanced Learning Information Session for Families

Families of current high school sophomores and juniors are invited to a virtual meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2025 from 6:00-7:30pm about the North Carolina Governor's School, a four-week residential summer program offered every year for students across the state of North Carolina. Governor's School allows students to live on a college campus for four weeks, all the while exploring an area of passion, talent, and interest such as math, Spanish, dance, theater, music, science, visual art, social sciences, and more!

Red Ribbon Week 2025 will be observed from October 23rd to 31st. It is the nation's oldest and largest drug-abuse prevention campaign, inspiring millions of people to commit to a drug-free life.

Adolescent Brain Development and Addiction at Smith Middle School on October 30th from 6:00-7:30pm. This session examines consequences and health effects of substance use including the impact of adolescent brain development and the increased risk for addiction.
