  • How to respond to phishing emails


    When a phishing message is identified, a trusted authority at the school site should send a screenshot to the school group and itsupport@chccs.k12.nc.us reminding users not to click on any of the links and not to respond to the messages. Any users who have clicked the links should change their passwords. To increase security of the account that was spoofed or hacked to send the message, you can setup 2-factor authentication. Anyone who has downloaded attachments should have their device checked for virii and malware by our IT customer support team. 
    Additionally, details of the experience can be reported to the Anti-Phishing Working Group and the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center.
    Once these steps have been completed, please notify IT Support for ticket closure.
