Welcome to a school year that is like no other! I am elated to serve as the Principal of Rashkis Elementary School! I join the Rashkis community with much experience in our district where I have been a teacher, an intern, an assistant principal, and now a principal! While I have had many experiences in other districts and countries, there is something about Chapel-Hill Carrboro City Schools that keeps calling me to continue in the work toward a shared vision of reaching success for every child! My own experience as a public school student began in a small town called Kelford, which is located in Bertie County, North Carolina. My upbringing in Bertie produced resilience, fostered hope, and ultimately inspired me to join other educators in their strategic efforts to break down barriers to success, so that all students receive the quality education that they so rightfully deserve. For this reason, I am committed to working with each person in our Rashkis community to make our school a place where dreams are ignited and staff and students feel valued. This is no small task, but I believe that we can achieve this with innovation, flexibility, and unwavering commitment.
My approach to leadership is driven by 3Cs: Communication, Collaboration, and Celebration! This means that others can count on me to be open and honest about the work that our community does together, collaborate with stakeholders on how to address our school’s specific needs, and celebrate each other as we make progress toward our shared goals! I support staff and students as they take risks, learn and develop innovative strategies, and unlock their greatest potential! The stakes are high in education, but I am always up for the challenge, and I hope that you are as well!
