Dr. Janice Croasmun

My name is Janice Croasmun, and I am proud to be the Principal of Rashkis Elementary School.

I am originally from West Virginia, but North Carolina has been my home for the past 25 years. I was an elementary school teacher for 12 years before earning my Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from UNC-Chapel Hill (Go Heels!).

I joined the Rashkis family as the Assistant Principal, then became the Principal in 2014. I am honored to serve the students, staff, and families of Rashkis Elementary and grateful to be a member of this wonderful community.

I am originally from Queens, New York; though I grew up in Fayetteville, NC.  Growing up in a military town taught me to value the diversity represented in the nation and the world in which we live. I received the NC Teaching Fellows Scholarship and completed my undergraduate studies at  UNC Greensboro. I earned my bachelor's degree in Mathematics and also minored in romance languages with a concentration in Spanish. My teaching experience began in Greensboro, NC as a math teacher. I quickly transitioned to teaching in Alamance County, where I currently reside. While with the Alamance Burlington School System, I was a member of the district Common Core Transition Team, as well as the district Technology Implementation Team. I began my graduate studies, during my last year of teaching and earned a master's degree in Executive Leadership Studies from Gardner-Webb University. Shortly thereafter, I was named an NC Principal Fellow and earned my second master's degree in School Administration from UNC-Chapel Hill.

My administrative career began in 2015 as the assistant principal at Rashkis Elementary School. Since 2015, I’ve had the opportunity to grow professionally and learn more about the Rashkis community. I am honored to work with such a dedicated staff and such amazing students. I look forward to a great 2018-19 school year.
