  • Get ready for fun Summer Reading activities!

Chapel Hill Public Library and Orange County Public Library have exciting virtual activities planned for Summer Reading 2020.  Please take a look!

Chapel Hill Public Library will have a summer reading program, but will set aside the "traditional" Summer Reading Challenge and focus more on promoting reading and the love of reading in a few different ways:

    • Household participation and encouragement to read every day
    • Yard/window signs to create excitement and build community around reading: ‘we  reading!’ in multiple languages (English, Spanish, Mandarin)
    • No required tracking of hours or challenge/goals set by library
    • Shift in reading log to reading calendar ('did you read today?' 'awesome!')
    • All participants will receive a book at summer’s end

Unfortunately, there will be no programs or performances at the library this year.   They will continue with their current virtual programming and add to it.

Orange County Public Library wants everyone to know that....

Summer Is a Great Time to Read, Learn and Grow.

Just like everything else, Summer Learning 2020 at the Orange County Public Library will be different than in years past.  OCPL will have reading challenges for all ages, a game board for kids in grades K-5, some great performances for families with young children and, of course, storytimes for our youngest readers. However, due to safety concerns related to Covid-19, all activities, except their game board will be online.  They will keep everyone up-to-date via social media, the website and  newsletter.
