Career and College Promise
CCP Pathways prepare high school students for college, both academically and culturally. From start to completion, CCP aligns with a traditional college student experience to help students accelerate into careers and college after high school. If you are interested or have questions about CCP, please contact Arielle Beamon at abeamon@chccs.12.nc.us.

Benefits of Work-based Learning
The benefits for work-based learning are monumental and rewarding for students. Students see firsthand the impact of course experiences, career preparation, and career development. In addition, students see the traits and abilities that are needed to be successful in the world of work. Businesses benefit because they can hire students who are truly interested in a specific industry and they can train future workers for that career. The pipeline of qualified workers is built by connecting students who want to work and want to pursue specific careers with future employers. Schools benefit when they see students who are engaged and motivated to come to school and learn. Most importantly, students see firsthand the importance and significance of classroom learning as well as career preparation.

CHCCS Teacher of the Year:
CTE Teacher Robert Ballard
Chapel Hill High School’s Automotive Instructor, Robert Ballard, is quietly taking the automotive and CTE (Career and Technical Education) world by storm, and we want you to learn more about this amazing teacher and role model.
Not only was Robert named 2023 CHCCS Teacher of the Year in May, but he continues to collect awards and recognitions. He prioritizes relationship-building with his students, and he’s also a big team player, always crediting his fellow CTE teachers and district leaders with every accolade and milestone he achieves. A great believer in reaching out to ALL students, Robert has expanded the presence of young women in the automotive pathway from 3 to 22!
NASA In-Flight Education Downlink at Chapel Hill High School, where hundreds of our students watched a few of their K-12 peers pose questions to two astronauts LIVE aboard the International Space Station. Currently a biochemistry major at UNC, Pristine Onuoha (East '23), joined as the special guest speaker.
Watch NASA/CHCCS event: Last week, students across the district had a BLAST attending the Career and Technical Education STEM Fair. At the culmination of the special event, they watched as astronauts from the International Space Station answered space-related questions from our own CHCCS students!
