CHCCS AVID Program Information

AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a kindergarten through postsecondary college readiness system designed to increase the number of students who enroll and succeed in higher education and in their lives beyond high school.

The mission of AVID is to close the opportunity gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society.

All AVID students take the AVID elective course. The AVID elective curriculum includes writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, reading, (WICOR) note-taking and study skills, and college/career activities.

The AVID program is for students who want to prepare for college and career readiness. The AVID student has the academic potential to succeed in a rigorous, college-preparatory program in high school.
