  • CHCCS Students Excel at Learning through Languages Symposium

    On Friday, February 1, the FedEx Global Education Center on UNC campus hosted nearly 100 high school world language students from across North Carolina for the Learning through Languages Research Symposium. Ten of the 36 teams in competition came from Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools, and although they didn’t sweep the awards entirely, they made a grand showing.

  • East Chapel Hill High School Hosts HBCU Fair

    The gym at East Chapel Hill High School transformed into a banner and pennant-filled college fair on Friday afternoon, January 25.The highlighted schools were Historically Black Colleges and Universities, and more than 200 students from local high schools browsed, mingled and even filled out applications on the spot.

  • McDougle Middle Hosts First TSA-STEM Expo

    Despite the fact that it was a holiday weekend, the first Technology Student Association (TSA) STEM Expo was packed with families for much of the scheduled four hours at McDougle Middle School (MMS) on Saturday, January 19. The Expo got underway at 10:00 a.m., and within an hour, the crowds enjoying the activities and vendor tables were almost at capacity. Not bad, for an inaugural event!

  • Fall Athletic Season Wraps Up With Four CHCCS Titles

    The athletic programs at Chapel Hill High, East Chapel Hill and Carrboro High School notched plenty of great achievements during the fall sports season, including four team and individual North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) titles: men’s soccer at CHHS, women’s cross country at Carrboro High, and top individual finishers in cross country in both women’s (CHS) and men’s (East).

  • Carrboro High School Students Meet with Nobel Peace Prize Winner

    For students in Matt Cone’s social studies classes at Carrboro High School, the possibility of meeting world leaders and changemakers seems to be just one more aspect of the learning process, rather than an extraordinary opportunity that few American students could ever experience. On October 29, a group of his students met privately with newly named Nobel Peace Prize winner, Nadia Murad, at Duke University.
