Why should I take a CTE class?

There are several benefits of including CTE in your educational plan:

The competitive advantages include:

1. content aligned to a career goal/college major

2. earn an industry credential to enhance your resume &/or college application

3. earn college credit tuition free with Career and College Promise (CCP) courses in your career/college major interest

4. schedule work-based learning opportunities like internships

5. CTE clubs build leadership skills and skill development

Beginning in 2012–13, The ACT and the ACT WorkKeys became part of North Carolina’s school accountability program. Each high school’s testing coordinator will coordinate this exam.
- The ACT WorkKeys assessment is a required assessment for Seniors who are considered a “concentrator”
  - Concentrator - is a student who has successfully completed the “concentrator” course (highlighted in orange within the pathway graphic throughout this document)
  - ACT® WorkKeys® assessments provide a gauge of career readiness and is widely recognized as an industry credential.
    - Individuals who successfully complete the three WorkKeys assessments—Applied Math, Graphic Literacy, and Workplace Documents—earn the WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certificate®
