A national program that provides students in grades 6-8 the opportunity to compete in live, in-person contests against and alongside their peers.
TSA is a national student organization created to develop skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics as well as business education. It aims to develop leadership, academics, and business management skills in the workplace among students and leaders with in the community.

ASL American Sign Language
American Sign Language (ASL) is a complete, complex language that employs signs made by moving the hands combined with facial expressions and postures of the body. It is the primary language of many North Americans who are deaf and is one of several communication options used by people who are deaf or hard-of-hearing. If you want to learn ASL, contact Ms. Hopler in eightth grade science commons.
In Yearbook Club, students design, promote, and sell the Yearbook. Assisted by teachers, students use an online computer program to create pages, and are also primarily responsible for taking the pictures that will end up in the yearbook. Its main goals are to capture the atmosphere of Culbreth and include every student's picture in the book. If you have creativity and want to be a prt of this club, contact Ms. M. Stevenson in sixth grade hall.
A singing club without intrumental accompaniment, is conducted by Ms. C. Benedick in sixth grade hall. It can be solo or choral that is sung without music behind it.
Model Un is an educational simulation and/or academic activity in which students can learn about diplomacy, international relations, and the United Nations. Mr. Giblin, an eightth grade Socail Studies teacher hosts this club in his room on Tueday mornings.
A jazz band is a musical ensemble that plays jazz music. Jazz bands vary in the quantity of its members and the style of jazz that they play but it is common to find a jazz band made up of a rhythm section and a horn section. Mr. Nedimeyer conducts jazz band in the band room.
Stepping or step-dancing is a form of percussive dance in which the participant's entire body is used as an instrument to produce complex rhythms and sounds through a mixture of footsteps, spoken word, and hand claps. Ask Ms. T. Hodge if you are interested in joining Culbreth's step team.
GSA Gender Sexulaity Alliance
A gay–straight alliance is a student-led or community-based organization, found in middle schools and high schools as well as colleges and universities. This club is run by Ms. Stef Mazva-Cohen, the social worker at Culbreth.
Heart & Sole (Girls on the Run)
Heart & Sole is Girls on the Run’s program for middle school girls! Heart & Sole creates a positive, structured space for middle school girls to learn about themselves, explore new ideas, cultivate empathy, strengthen connections and develop life skills that will help them as they move through adolescence and beyond.
The Heart & Sole curriculum is rich with themes girls can relate to, addressing the whole girl—body, brain, heart, spirit and social connection—and building important life skills such as team building, developing a support system, boundary setting, decision making, asking for and providing help and more. This club is also run by Ms. Stef Mazva-Cohen, soacial worker at Culbreth.
Chess is a two-player strategy board game played on a checkered board with 64 squares arranged in an 8×8 grid. The game is played by millions of people worldwide. Chess is believed to be derived from the Indian game chaturanga sometime before the 7th century. Chess club was started on the basis of interested students who wanted to compete with their peers at school.
The goals of the Environmental Club are to increase awareness of environmental issues among faculty, staff, administration and students; assist faculty, staff, administration and students to become better stewards of the environment; make Culbreth a model middle school for environmental awareness. It involves working in the school's greenhouse to take care of seeds and saplings and the green areas around our school building in managing those spaces.
FIRST LEGO League is an international competition organized by FIRST for elementary and middle school students. Each year in August, FIRST LEGO League introduces a scientific and real-world challenge for teams to focus and research on.
