The Road to Carnegie Hall
The McDougle Middle School Choirs, under the direction of Mr. John Benton, have been invited to perform at historic Carnegie Hall in New York City on June 23, 2019!
These outstanding musicians will spend 5 days and 4 nights in New York City in preparation for their concert under the direction of Maestra Maria Guinard. They will join a few select choirs to perform two song cycles by renowned Venezuelan composer Alberto Grau.
In the words of Dr. Jonathan Griffith, Artistic Director for the concert, “The McDougle Middle School Choirs received this invitation because of the quality and high level of musicianship demonstrated by the singers as well as the quality of their audition recording...These wonderful musicians not only represent a high quality of music and education, but they also become ambassadors for the entire community.”
Please help support our efforts to ensure every MMS choir member who wishes to can attend this trip. New York is extremely expensive and we would appreciate your donation of any amount for this once in a lifetime opportunity. The k12 donation site does not charge any fees so 100% of your donation goes directly to support students’ travel and lodging. And as an extra thank you, each donor’s name will be painted on a large mural “road” MMS Art Teacher Kate Parrent is designing for this effort.
There are two ways to donate:
Checks should be made out to “McDougle Middle School” and have “Carnegie Donation” in the memo section. They can be mailed to:
