Kirtisha Jones, Assistant Principal
Kirtisha Jones is a passionate educator who has worked as a full-time teacher in the classroom for 14 years. She worked ten years with Quality Education Institute of Durham, two years with RN Harris Core Knowledge/Integrated Arts Magnet School of Durham, and the past two years she worked with the dynamic fourth grade students and team here at Northside Elementary School; and continued to do so while pursuing her Masters degree in administration at UNC-CH.
Kirtisha attended North Carolina Central University as part of the first cohort of recipients of the Ron Edmonds Teaching Scholarship. She graduated with honors in May of 2004, and welcomed her first class of students in July of 2004. She has worked tirelessly in the field of education without turning back. Within these years she has seen many of her students graduate with honors, go to college, and still come back and speak about the impact she had on their education. She believes that as educators we have a grave and imperative responsibility to reach and inspire each child based on his/her own learning style; and make his/her learning experience uplifting, fulfilling and inspiring.
“Being an educator is more than just what we say and do within the walls of the school; it’s how we show up in our children’s lives,” is a statement that embodies Kirtisha’s philosophy as an educator.
