Kirtisha Jones is a passionate educator who served as a teacher for 14 years prior to becoming a school administrator. She was the Assistant Principal of Northside Elementary School for 4 years before making the best transition of her life as principal of the Dolphin Pod.  

Kirtisha attended North Carolina Central University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hil to obtain her Bachelor and Master degreesl.  She is currently a student at UNC-CH completing her Doctoral degree in Educational Leadership.  She believes that educators have a responsibility to fully equipt and prepare students to boldly face the world as their authentic selves, while experiencing joy, developing a love of learning and a voice of advocacy, enduring productive academic struggle, and feeling loved and celebrated along the way; but none of this can be accomplished without establishing strong relationships with our students and families. 

Her favorite quote comes from Nelson Mandela, “"If you want the cooperation of humans around you, you must make them feel they are important - and you do that by being genuine and humble."

Principal Jones is motivated and determined to be a strong visible and welcoming voice and presence for our Dolphin Community (which encompasses our students, staff, and families). Throughout the school year just know that you can count on an opportunity to join in a selfie, dance in a Friday Dance Party, or simply spot Principal Jones in her sneakers proudly serving our Dolphin Pod.
