The district's Community Schools Programs provide safe, high quality, licensed school-age care that leads children towards independence by stimulating social, emotional, intellectual and physical development through age-appropriate enrichment and recreational activities.Our Credentials
- Each After-School program is dedicated to providing quality school-age care and uses the National AfterSchool Association Standards for Quality School-Age Care as a guideline.
- Each After-School program is licensed by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Child Development and holds a five star-rated license.
- Site Directors are generally experienced in child care, elementary education, recreational programming and program administration.
- Group Leaders have experience working with groups of children in recreational or educational settings.
- Staff members receive training in the areas of BSAC (Basic School-Age Care), child development, PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Support), program planning, recognition of abuse or neglect, CPR, Standard First Aid, and Playground Safety.
