  • Find Answers to Your CDM Questions

    Credit by Demonstrated Mastery (CDM), is a highly rigorous testing process for achieving high school course credit without completing the course through “seat time” and assignments. The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction implemented this policy in 2014 following suit with other states across the nation. The purpose is to give uniquely qualified students who possess mastery knowledge of content the ability to personalize their learning.

  • Eugenia Floyd Named 2020-21 Regional Teacher of the Year

    Eugenia Floyd, fourth grade teacher at Scroggs Elementary School, and 2020-21 Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools Teacher of the Year, has been named one of nine North Carolina Regional Teachers of the Year. She will advance to the competition for 2021 Burroughs Wellcome Fund North Carolina Teacher of the Year.

  • 2020 EC Educator of Excellence Announced

    Each year, the N.C. Department of Public Instruction’s Exceptional Children Division honors an “Exceptional Children (EC) Educator of Excellence,” and the 2020 award for CHCCS goes to Ashley Hudson, speech-language pathologist (SLP).

    At its December 3 Special Call Meeting, the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools Board of Education elected Dr. Jillian La Serna as its new chair, and Deon Temne as vice chair.

    The process to educate CHCCS students about their career options and development may start earlier and offer far more resources than many parents, and even staff, know. What better time to showcase the numerous paths toward career exploration and preparation than this month, Career Development Month. And the education professionals who oversee this process are the creative and dedicated career development coordinators (CDC’s) in our high schools.
